winevsys1. What is WinEvsys?

HURIDOCS has also developed a database system called WinEvsys which integrates the standard formats and micro-thesauri. You can use it to record information on violations. You can then produce analysis and statistics on these violations: statistics by type of violation, by perpetrator, by victim characteristics, by geographic area, by time period, by result of intervention, and so on.

One of the strong points of the WinEvsys database system is that it is very flexible and has built-in vocabularies to describe all types of violations and all aspects of a human rights case. Also, it is very easy to adapt to your exact needs: you do not need to be a computer programmer to adapt the database system to the violations that your organisation is monitoring.

3. The WinEvsys data model

data modelWinEvsys is based on documentation tools developed by HURIDOCS: standard formats and micro-thesauri. These tools:
  • make it possible to structure information on violations using the Events approach: an event contains acts, perpetrators, victims, sources, intervening parties.
  • provide a systematic vocabularies for describing human rights violations, making it possible to share data collected by several organisations for a common analysis.

4. Watch the demonstration videos

VideocapThese videos will provide you with demonstrations on how to use the IT tools developed by HURIDOCS.

Clicking on one of the links below will take you to a video player website (Google Video). Be sure to play the full-screen version of the videos (see bottom of page), which are much clearer than the standard-size versions.

5. Get training on human rights documentation using WinEvsys
