The Iran Rights Index tracks the Islamic Republic of Iran’s compliance with human rights recommendations made by various United Nations mechanisms.

The Iran Rights Index tracks the Islamic Republic of Iran’s compliance with human rights recommendations made by various United Nations mechanisms. It was created by Impact Iran with support from HURIDOCS. 

The index contains the full text of more than 400 recommendations made by four UN Treaty Bodies and six UN Special Procedures since 1993. It also tracks the implementation status of the recommendations. Entries can be searched and filtered by:

  • recommending mechanism
  • theme, such as freedom from discrimination, right to fair trial and right to life of the child
  • affected demographic
  • implementation status
  • and more

Impact Iran assesses compliance according to a framework of human rights indicators that is based on best practices as outlined by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The indicator sets are available for download on the website.
