How to Record Names of Persons offers general guidelines for logging personal names in a standard form, style and order. It was developed to be used in conjunction with the Events Standard Formats, a methodology for recording abuses of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.
This guide was originally published in 2001. Although parts of the How to Record Names of Persons remain applicable today, it has not received an update in some time. As such, we also recommend checking out the list of name conventions curated by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
