Martin Ennals Award: call for nominations

The Martin Ennals Foundation invites nominations for its 2011 Award.

The Martin Ennals Foundation invites nominations for its 2011 Award. The deadline is 9th December 2010. The MEA application form and more information on the Award can be obtained from the MEA website: www.martinennalsaward.org, ready for electronic submission.

The Award is granted annually to an individual, or exceptionally an organisation, in recognition of their commitment and ongoing endeavour in the defence and promotion of human rights. Nominees must be currently involved in work for the promotion and protection of human rights. Special account is taken of those who are at risk and have demonstrated an active record of combating human rights violations by courageous and innovative means. The MEA aims to encourage individuals or organisations, particularly those who are working in conditions hostile to fundamental human rights and who are in need of protection.

The present value of the annual Award is 20’000 Swiss Francs, to be used for further work in the field of human rights. The following organisations participate in the Jury: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Front Line, Human Rights First, International Federation for Human Rights, the World Organisation Against Torture, International Commission of Jurists, International Service for Human Rights, Diakonie Germany and HURIDOCS.

Martin Ennals (1927-1991) was instrumental to the modern human rights movement. He creatively pursued ideas ahead of his time and was the driving force behind other organisations. His deep desire was to see more cooperation among NGOs.

Appèl de candidatures: Prix Martin Ennals 2011 Pour les défenseurs des droits de l’homme (MEA)

La Fondation Martin Ennals invite des candidatures pour son Prix 2011. La date limite est le 9 Décembre 2010. Le formulaire de demande MEA et de plus amples renseignements sur le Prix peut être obtenu 1) sur le site www.martinennalsaward.org, prêt pour la soumission électronique.

Le prix est attribué annuellement à une personne, ou exceptionnellement une organisation, en reconnaissance de leur engagement et des efforts continus dans la défense et la promotion des droits de l’homme. Les candidats doivent être actuellement impliqués dans le travail pour la promotion et la protection des droits de l’homme. Compte spécial est pris de ceux qui sont à risque et ont montré un dossier actif de la lutte contre les violations des droits par des moyens courageux et novateur. La MEA a pour but d’encourager les individus ou organisations, en particulier ceux qui travaillent dans des conditions hostiles aux droits humains fondamentaux et qui sont dans le besoin de protection.

La valeur actuelle du prix annuel est de 20’000 francs suisses, à utiliser pour la poursuite des travaux dans le domaine des droits de l’homme. Les organisations suivantes participent au jury: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Front Line, Human Rights First, la Fédération internationale des droits de l’homme, l’Organisation mondiale contre la torture, Commission internationale de juristes, Service international pour les droits de l’homme, Diakonie Allemagne et HURIDOCS.

Martin Ennals (1927-1991) a joué un rôle dans le mouvement moderne des droits de l’homme. Il a poursuivi de façon créative des idées en avance sur son temps et a été la force motrice d’autres organisations. Son désir profond était de voir une plus grande coopération entre les ONG.

La Fundación Martin Ennals abre la convocatoria para el Premio 2011. La fecha límite es el 9 de diciembre de 2010. El formulario de solicitud de MEA y más información sobre el premio se puede obtener desde el sitio web de MEA: www.martinennalsaward.org, aliste para la sumisión electrónica

El Premio se concede anualmente a una persona, o excepcionalmente una organización, en reconocimiento a su compromiso y esfuerzo permanente en la defensa y promoción de los derechos humanos. Los nominados deben ser en la actualidad participan en el trabajo para la promoción y protección de los derechos humanos. Cuenta especial se toma de los que están en riesgo y han demostrado un registro activo de la lucha contra violaciónes de los derechos humanos por medios valerosos e innovadores. La AMA tiene como objetivo alentar a las personas u organizaciones, en particular los que están trabajando en condiciones hostiles a los derechos humanos fundamentales y que están en necesidad de protección.

El valor actual del premio anual es de 20.000 francos suizos, que se utilizarán para seguir trabajando en el campo de los derechos humanos. Martin Ennals (1927-1991) fue fundamental para el movimiento moderno de derechos humanos. Él creativamente a cabo las ideas por delante de su tiempo y fue la fuerza impulsora detrás de otras organizaciones. Su mayor deseo era ver una mayor cooperación entre las ONG.
